KASAM-KALANIT
2023 | Kasam rocket and enamel | 20x12x25 cm
A rocket fired from Gaza, meant to cause death and terror, was transformed into a flower. Every Israeli child knows it's forbidden to pick these blood-red Anemones, whose bloom signals the coming of winter. The vast red carpets of blossoms cover the south of Israel, the area hardest hit by the rockets.

CREATION PROCESS
This Kasam Roket was fired on Ashkelon, the section was used for the propulsion and is 1 meter long from a 6" steel water pipe.
I cut out the petals and forged them into shape, adding floral-like textures. The stem was from another part of the rocket, which I tried to leave in its original state.
The inner parts of the leaves were covered in red enamel, giving a unique contrast to the bare metal.
