IRIS
2024 | Kasam Rocket, Mild Steel | 22x12x60 cm
This metal sculpture depicts an elegant iris flower, meticulously crafted from the remnants of a Kassam rocket. The twisted and jagged forms of the metal create a striking contrast between the delicate organic shape of the flower and the violent, destructive nature of the material. The intricate petals of the iris, forged from war remnants, symbolize resilience and transformation—turning a weapon of conflict into a symbol of life and beauty. The dark metallic tones emphasize the material's rawness while also evoking a sense of renewal through art. This piece reflects both the devastation of conflict and the power of creation and healing through artistic expression.

CREATION PROCESS
Forged from remnants of a Kasam Rocket fired on Ashkelon.
The petals are cut and forged into shape, adding floral-like textures. The stem though taken from a cylindrical part of the rocket, was bent to a mangled piece of steel.
Bending the edges of the petals with pliers was a playful opportunity to make the sculpture come to life.
A large solid plate serves as the base, it's edges roughly cut with a torch.
