2025 | Copper | 17x32x45 cm

This sculpture of three tulips captures the quiet poetry of nature’s cycles growth, decay, and renewal mirroring the rhythms of human life. One tulip stands in full bloom, vibrant and open; another droops, its petals withering; the third a bud reaches upward, caught before emergence and bloom. These shifting states evoke the passage of time, the inevitability of change, and the delicate balance between vitality and fragility. Just as flowers blossom and fade, so too do human experiences—hope, loss, resilience, and transformation. The twisting, almost human-like stems suggest an emotional connection to these cycles, as if the tulips themselves embody the struggles and beauty of existence. The piece invites contemplation on nature’s quiet wisdom, reminding us that every phase—whether flourishing or fading—is part of a larger, eternal rhythm.

CREATION PROCESS

Forged from 3mm copper plate.

The petals are cut and forged into shape, adding floral-like textures. Attached is a free formed and spiralling-abstract stem.

The base is a round metal plate, the copper was welded on top to tie it all together.

Each tulip is given a different finish, the bud is polished shiny and new, the bloom has vinegar and salt teal patina, and the weathering has ammonia blue patina. All are sealed in wax for a shiny silky look.
