DIANA
2024 | Laser-cut Brass and Mild Steel | 14x14x40 cm
Diana, the goddess of nature and fertility, she often depicted with many breasts.
This sculpture takes a contemporary twist, creating the illusion with a set of laser-cut redial cross sections of thin brass plates.
A modern figurine holding her hands back, she is a body-positive example. Looking different from every angle, the silhouette gives away the female form.

CREATION PROCESS
This sculpture consists of 16 slices of brass arranged in a circle. Getting the exact shape from a 3D model, the slices are laser-cut 0.8 mm brass plates.
After polishing each slice was inserted in a custom jig to hold every piece around a central column. The slices were soldiered to the column and then a black patina was applied.
The column was wielded onto a steel base and polished again for a gradient patin look.
