CLARA

A celebration of the female form, a dancer on one leg stretching her arms as her hair droops behind. She is made of metal ring slices, enhancing the elegant movement while the void inside adds to the sense of lightweightness.
CREATION PROCESS
The name of the sculpture: "Clara" stems from the name of the dancer whose photograph has inspired this piece.
First, the pose was recreated in 3D using DAZ, it was then taken to Zbrush for fine details and modeling the hair.
Then using Cinema4D the 3D model was sliced into rings for laser cutting.
Each ring of 4mm thick mild steel was welded to the ring before it, using a printout for the right placement and orientation. The finish is a satin silver, with lacquer for longlasting rust prevention.
