CASSANDRA AND GABRIEL
2018 | laser cut steel, rust patina | 16x26x84 cm
Male and female dancers captured in a moment of grace. The male holds up the female as she stretches elegantly. They are composed of slices of rusted steel, each perpendicular to the other.

CREATION PROCESS
Named after the dancers whose photograph has inspired this piece.
Their pose was recreated in 3D using DAZ, it was then taken to Zbrush to perfect the details.
Then using Cinema4D the 3D model was sliced for laser cutting.
Each slice of 3mm thick mild steel was welded at an equal space to the slice before it, with structural rods running through the sculpture. The sculpture was watered and dried a couple of times to form an even rust layer, this patina was sealed in with a kaphos finish.
